Overwatch Ship Grid

So, I did a Thing

But true to my nature (and by nature I mean that time with The Homestuck Grid) I changed it a little

I basically renamed the colours and added the Green

For those who don't know and just happen across this I'm very...organised? when it comes to shipping
I don't ship without reason, for me to ship something I have to believe that in some form of evidence that these two would indeed be a good couple as well as having reason to be drawn to each other (so not Nevermet Ships)
I'm also fairly respectful to those I don't ship, I don't hate a ship, I may greatly disagree or dislike a collection of its fans that try and shit on other ships on that ship's turf but I wouldn't say that I wholeheartedly hate a ship, sometimes it's just a matter of me not shipping it

Also, I don't OT3 or do grouped ships and usually (not always) I have a Single OTP, in the event of having Multiple OTPs the catch is that they are 4 separate characters, I don't ship my OTP characters with other characters
Because that kinda defeats the point of calling it a One True Pairing right?

But anyway, I'm gonna explain some of these because, well I gotta stick up for them XD

Green - Not a Fan I'm Afraid
Reaper76 - I don't really get this ship, they were friends now they're enemies, 76 Literally hunts him Down. Also due to Reaper's constant state of decay I'm not gonna even try to think about how that'd work o_O

McHanzo - This seems a really popular one, but again, I don't understand it, from what I see there's not much they do have in common

WidowTracer - Another hugely popular one, but I could never see this Happening; Widow killed one of Tracer's Idols in Mondatta and a former Overwatch agent in Gerard. Gerard is a huge part of why I don't really ship Widowmaker with people, I just wouldn't trust her XD

Yellow - Just Friends
Genyatta - Easy to do this one, Zenyatta is my Favourite Character ever but they simply have a Student/Teacher Mutual Friendship, Kinda like the Relationship Zenyatta would've had with Mondatta or like a Mr Miyagi/Daniel-San thing

Winston/Tracer - Now my headcanon's a little bit different to the other friendships here, Winston does have a little crush on Tracer but Tracer sees Winston like a big gorilla brother, she's very thankful for him making the Chronal Accelerator but they have a sibling relationship. I should also add that Tracer is pansexual in my Headcanon, but she struggles to make lasting romantc connections due to the fact that she is still technically a ghost, Winston is also pretty melancholic, mainly since he is the only one of his kind on Earth

Lucio/Tracer - Another Sibling Friendship, it's more healthy rivalry that connects them, Tracer likes his Music too

Lucio/D.Va - This is something I'm torn with (as you can see with it also being blue), but in my headcanon Lucio is Gay, it's something Hana helps him come to terms with but I feel like it really fits his character, he lives in a place where social conformity oppresses him and his countrymen, it makes sense to me that a guy who fights for everyone's right to 'live free and as they choose' would be fighting for equality in sexuality too

Mei/Zarya - this more or less doesn't appeal to me shipwise, I can see them being very close though. Mei is very impressed by Zarya's strength while Zarya admires Mei's intelligence and drive to save the world's ecosystem. Zarya is the worrisome type with her though, since Mei also is friendly to Bastion and Zenyatta - which Zarya tolerates but keeps a close eye on. For me Zarya is straight though (and is beautiful, all the women are beautiful, but just because a woman likes working out and weightlifting doesn't mean she's automatically gay)

JunkHog - Ah the Junkers, don't get me wrong, these two have an excellent relationship. Junkrat flits between calling Hog his Friend or just treating him like a Bodyguard, but this is more down to him not making out that they have a huge attachment in case people try to target him, Roadhog also flits, but this is between putting Junkrat in his place or just following orders. The comic also makes me think that Hog is a man of few words, and that Junkrat sometimes makes up his inaudible grunts as dialogue. I also Don't Ship Roadhog with anyone, this goes down to the Headcanon backstory I have for him - he had a full blown family, and after the Omnium explosion he lost them, so Roadhog isn't really someone who is open to having relationships.

Pharmercy - Ooooh I can feel the searing glares. Look, I get it, Pharmercy is popular, it has a fitting name and an old voice line that can be interpreted as romantic, but I don't ship it, I'm sorry but I just don't feel it. If it makes you guys feel better I always seem to not support at least one mainstream ship in my fandoms However, I do see Pharah as Bi

Purple - Low Key
McFaree - okay, maybe I shouldn't have put this directly after Pharmercy Okay, hear me out. For one, McCree and Mercy are the same age, so you can't really judge on that, secondly, they both care a helluva lot about Justice XD thirdly, Ana, Ana almost already treats Jesse like her own and I doubt it's simply because he was a young field agent and finally, I kinda headcanon that little Fareeha and Jesse had a good sibling bond in the past, Jesse was Fareeha's go-to when she wanted to have fun. When they got older, and Fareeha stopped crushing on Reinhardt like a teenage fangirl, Pharah started to see McCree differently to that of a brother and - not without some nonchalant pushing from her mother - that'll eventually lead to something

Gency - there's simple reasoning for this, Genji owes Mercy his life but Mercy feels like she's wronged him. I feel like they could have something romantic, but there is a very blue factor that prevents it.

Reaper/Mercy - this is another 'needs explanation' one, I don't Ship Mercy with 'Reaper', I believe that back in the day Angela and Gabriel dated. Like Gency, there is an underlying blue going on but this is more a reason why things didn't work out, eventually coming to a head when Reyes 'died'. Desperate to save the man she cared for, Mercy revived Reyes into what he is now, but Reyes rejected it and her, feeling that she robbed him of a clean death (got that from a fancomic don't judge me). After that they stopped being together, but they had history

Widowreaper - as I explained, I dunno how any Reaper or Widow ships would 'work', but I kinda like it. I mean it'd probably be short lived or as a means to blow off steam but hey, not everything's perfect in a neat little bow

Hanzo/Symmetra - this, oh boy, this is the odd one. I don't think I've found anyone to this date who ships this. But it kinda makes sense, Hanzo is a mathematical genius, Symmetra is a child prodigy, Hanzo was raised in a morally ambiguous empire, Symmetra was raised in a morally ambiguous empire, they are pretty similar. But! Here's the kicker, the reason why I think they'd meet is because Vishkar want the Shimada Empire, nothing helps persuade governments more than some muscle huh? They need a fall guy, so Symmetra is sent to find Hanzo, seduce him and convince him to reclaim the Shimada empire, Symmetra's a slave to Vishkar's flawed logic so she begrudgingly complies, but as she gets closer to Hanzo she falls in too deep, this is probably the tragic relationship of my Overwatch Ships, even I dunno if they could work things out.

Blue - Mid Key
Lucio/D.Va - As I said back in the Yellows, Lucio is gay, but I do like the thought and fanart of the two together. They way I see it is that Lucio was with D.Va for a while, but it's at this point Lucio came out to her and they split mutually. Hana and Lucio's friendship after that was still similar though, you know those 'how are they not dating' friendships? That

Mercy76 - ah the underlying reason why I don't ship Gency, Mercy76 don't only have that 'Group Parents' thing going but they also have great fanart that makes me warm and happy inside. For me, Jack and Gabe both had eyes for Angela, when Angela and Gabe got together he did back off, but that didn't stop him from liking her. Angela also had low key feelings for Jack while with Gabe, but of course she never looked into it because of obvious reasons, she was still devastated when he was presumed dead and when he came back it really lifted a weight for her. After that, Mercy was 76's go-to medic, they grew close and the rest is fanart. Due to Gency this can't really be an OTP, but it's really close to one, I love the 'Team Mom/Dad/Bab' dynamic

Anahardt - like Mercy76, this is close to being up in red territory, the only thing holding this one back is Bridgette. Before Ana I did ship Reinhardt with Bridgette, they act like a married couple, but there is definitely something there between him and Ana, so I'm a little torn. I like the fanart, but since I ship Reinhardt with another it can't be an OTP

Bridgette/Reinhardt = Purple - like I said, Married Couple
Ana76 = Yellow - People like to theorize that Pharah is 76's kid, I just don't buy it, Ana may've had a flirtation with Jack but it was usually just professional between them
Junkrat/D.Va = Yellow - I doubt people ship it in huge numbers, but Hana isn't scared or put off by Junkrat's weirdness, she embraces it instead, as a form of gratitude that was how D.Va's Scavenger and Junker mechs were born
Bastion - Bastion doesn't entirely comprehend relationships, he's basically Android 16 with PTSD
Zenyatta - as I said, Zenyatta is my favourite, but oddly I don't ship him with anyone (this is actually really odd because usually my OTP involves my favourite Character) I dunno why, I guess I don't see anything romantic between him and the rest of the heroes, probably because he's so at peace with everything
Torbjorn - simple with this one, I ship Torbjorn with no-one because he doesn't really want one, he likes the casual flirt but Engineering is his passion, and nothing beats that for him. He is of course best friends with Reinhardt but we already knew that

And Red - High Key/OTP

The Creme de la creme, my OTP is Meihem

I just love it, fitting name, fire and ice dichotomy and the little things
But for my first defence I have to address the elephant in the room

Yes, interactions do have Mei being very cold towards Junkrat, but the difference between that and the likes of Widowtracer or Reaper76 is that Junkrat hasn't personally wronged Mei, she only knows his notoriety but not who he is, in addition he flirts much better than Widowmaker does (plus I trust him not to kill her in her sleep)

but there's also the little things I mentioned; there's the simple matter of opposites attract - Junkrat's tall and slender while Mei is short and broad (not fat though, just the coat and even then she's wouldn't be fat), Mei deals in Ice and Cold Climates while Junkrat is literally on Fire from Australia, there's the bear trap on Mei's yeti hunter skin but also there's Junkrat's happy emote - which is greatly similar to Mei's cheering emote in that they do a little dance on the spot

For my headcanons I do follow how most of the fanart goes, Junkrat goes through a long road of awkward courtship in his own adorably crazy fashion, Mei of course is usually weirded by it but warms to him. In a way they compliment each other, Junkrat becomes more humanized by hanging around Mei while Mei learns to enjoy the little things like Junkrat does
In the middle of this though is Roadhog, who acts as a mediator, a voice of support/restraint or just an ear to rant to
Nonetheless, I do love the ship and its fanart, all the way down to the pet names 'Jamie' and 'Snowflake' (since Snowball is her drone's name)

but yeah, this 'thing' got a little ahead of me XD
alas those are my ships
