Well this one was a more amplified version of yesterday

busier and quieter at the same time

the sleep was worse

I woke up at 1:30, then 2:30, then 3

then I dozed off again, prime moment to have a weird dream

as weird dreams go it wasn't super weird

and this time it didn't involve someone undermining my parenting

there was a woman though, she was dressed like an old handmaiden but I think it was for this fair that was going on in the building

I had either swept her away during her break or snuck out of her working, but we were with another group going through some old tour of a communications tower(?)

the other group were blobs really, no detail, we lagged back, probably intentionally so we could shake them off and make out :eyes:

we did kiss, I remember that much; she had short dark hair that was not quite black, it was styled rather cleanly as well likely for her costume, her skin was paler than mine but it could've been makeup for her outfit too, we were both timid but she seemed enthusiastic about history, playing old time recordings in the tower room before we got into flirtations

kissing is as far as we got however before I woke, plus it was still a public place so I doubt we would've gone further XD still, another face I can't remember :/ it was nice in the dream though

waking however...I woke up 15 minutes later than I should've woke up ^^;

my stomach still carried the weight of the meal yesterday, so rushing an exercise and breakfast while lethargic was not a great combination

it was raining too, not heavy rain but the small spitting rain

after arriving to work it was just another case of busy and quiet

compliance sucks ass, everyone second guesses everything anyway, means a buttload of bugs too

and it seems the powers that be decided that we are the only project that doesn't get to be prioritized when compliance is happening ¬_¬

we were down 2 testers; one absence and another taken for a different project

didn't get all of compliance done but we do kinda still have time, it just upsets the rhythm a little

plus not all the testers end up on the same page, and don't tell each other that either which is annoying

I seem to be stuck in a void of people making decisions about things without telling me

yesterday it was 'let's make all the changes one big bug' and then when I mention it in the teams meeting it's 'no we'll do it one by one'

okay were you gonna tell me you changed your mind before making a fool of myself or not huh? I'm not telepathic

since the testers were focused on compliance there was some periods of boring quiet

as such, the day moved slowly once more

get home, have some food

mum has gone into full panic cleaning mode

'just so you know I cleaned your windowsill in your room so if anything was moved that's why' she tells me

silly really, if we're entertaining guests over the weekend they're not gonna be in my room anyway

unless the household has taken to making decisions outside of my knowledge

but I did appreciate the forewarning because I don't like when things in my room are moved out of place

...until I went up to my room to find it was not just the windowsill

it was wrong, everywhere wrong

ornaments placed in different sequences, piles disorganized, clothing displaced

no real attempt to put it back how it was, just how mother prefers it to look

so that annoyed me too

Shogun also wasn't fun

subtitles decided not to show, and since 90% of the dialogue is in Japanese I'm pretty sure I missed a lot of what was going on, I felt like the subtitles should've been baked into the episode right? Weird, but if you're expecting any massive action from this show you're not getting much

In the end I have to agree with Yabushige, for as much as he was a turncoat who saw profit in Toranaga's downfall, Toranaga is a callous manipulator, no different to his enemy schemers

death is just a movement on the chess board to them, a new leverage, a smokescreen, it's not really something I can respect

but I saw it through, my Tuesdays will probably free up a lot now

after that I tried to watch Dynasty, 2 matches in all the streams became 403

they cracked down fucking quick on it :stare: I'll have to keep trying when I have free time

best laid plans eh?

so far the only thing that hasn't cut me at the legs has been the ship tag

nothing massive going on there, few people reacting to the episode before last

keeps making me thing though how close they were to killing Otohan, if they only had an inkling that she was near her limit maybe events would've gone differently

I suppose that is the weight of loss though, when people bring it back up the wound reopens a little

that and youtube, but I control what I consume on youtube so it's never really gonna cut me at the legs

my PC did freeze twice mind you, but that's more the PC's fault than the website

tomorrow we'll have Bad Batch penultimate episode and X-Men 97

mum's off to another meal so Ronnie won't be doing shit tomorrow

not sure what project I'll be on because this one will only return on Friday, have a clue but not the full picture

take it as it comes, try not to oversleep this time ^^; though if the handmaiden girl wants to return to my dreams I'm not against it

How was your Days?

I don't get many FCV's or Llamas but I appreciate them nonetheless

Funfact: It's Saint George's Day today for England, a patron saint for England, Moscow, Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Ukraine, Malta, Ethiopia and Bosnia & Herzegovina

but here's the kicker

the George and the Dragon myth he's best known for was a late addition to his canon

in fact, the original martyr wasn't even English; he was a Roman Praetorian from Cappadocia

which means he's Turkish-Greek by descent

his canon of slaying a dragon was based off of the Christianization of the 'Thracian Horseman' archetype, using the biblical trampling of the snake to aid in their rhetoric

but here's the double kicker, George's story was in fact someone else's first

Saint Theodore Tiron, another martyr and former Roman Legionary, had the legend of slaying a dragon 4 centuries before it was granted to George

man's on fraud watch

And that's a Fact!

Hope you all had Great Days

And so I shall bid you all

Snap Decisions

4 min read

Today probably could've been worse in hindsight

though Mondays still have to Monday

I slept longer than I usually did, at about 4:30 this time

not a lot of time for lounging, but I got spoiled on AEW Dynasty

on the plus side it was 99% a great show, minus the Jericho stuff, really thought TK would read the room with that

but I'm still yet to watch it, busy day for everything except work

mum's birthday after all, everyone bustling around in the morning

bike to work, tad windy but not too much

but work was a drag

some testers are getting through the text file quickly, some are taking more time than hoped

we have a meeting at the end of the week to suggest extensions but besides that we're just keeping at it

in many ways it's too self-sufficient, because it means I don't get much to do ^^;

then you're at that point where you just keep asking yourself why you're there

Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer came out in between though, very fun, probably will watch that in the cinema in July

but once work finally hit its end time, I rushed back home knowing I wouldn't have much time between exercising and going to the meal

however, about halfway through mum said that they pushed forward the time to give my brother and his girlfriend more time to arrive, so I rushed less

which then proved a pain, since when I was just finishing I get told again that the two are still stuck in the train station so they have been told not to bother and we're going now

didn't really get time to relax in between there

but it was a nice meal, albeit a bit underwhelming at times

you order mushrooms and stilton as a starter you expect a big mushroom base y'know not baby mushrooms scattered over a ciabatta bread, I could've made that at home rather than pay £6.50 for it

Salmon was okay, bit oily actually like you'd bite it and just taste the greasy fish oil rather than the fish texture itself, that put a damper on it a little, but still decent enough

we're going there next month for my Grandad's 80th, lots of people though, Grandad is likely to get drunk or go off on some big hollow speech about family at some point too

but for now we got home, I caught up on some videos sans Dynasty

reading a shippy fic right now to end the day, the ship tag did give a piece of fanart but it was more a 'here's your ship but also here's two other ships with one of those characters in the same piece'

nothing wrong with it just not for me, if I could just covet the slice that is for me without having to be recommended the other two I would

algorithms are fucked anyway even for sports teams it's like 'hey you might like content from here: it's a fan page of the team who's bitter rivals of yours and your respective fans tend to hate each other's guts!'

big game like that tomorrow in fact, gotta win, only way to stay in it

but yeah, tomorrow will likely be quiet at work again and busy at home catching up

Shogun finale, Dynasty, and whatever else comes along

How was your Days?

I don't get many FCV's or Llamas but I appreciate them nonetheless

Funfact: Turtle facts because I like turtles

although they live in the water, Sea turtles are air breathers

they don't have gills after all

fortunately, they have incredible lung capacity

depending on the strain of the activity, they can hold their breath underwater for 4-7 hours

which means they could easily take a power nap or a decent enough amount of sleep completely submerged, whereas I in a comfy bed barely make 5 on a work day

life would be easier as a sea turtle...well, an adult sea turtle the whole lack of parents and having to sprint blindly towards the ocean at birth is still a rough gig, literally the only blemish I have with turtles is the 'left alone upon hatching' thing

though one day I would love to help guide some hatchlings to the sea

And that's a Fact!

Hope you all had Great Days

And so I shall bid you all

Fall In Fallout

10 min read

Well it's another weekend over

again

bit of a busy one this one, or at least a more active one than usual

I'm still tired really, always tired, probably need a break sometime soon

there is a bank holiday in about 2 weeks, maybe that'll suffice

but anyway, start with Friday

got up as normal, it was a mild day really, nothing bad was going on and I had a different mantra than usual

fortunately Critical Role didn't hurt me maliciously or bitterly

we did get a big curveball though; we're off the moon with the scientist but then we spent the second half with another group

two of the current members you see were created from a spinoff story called EXU: Prime, where they were part of a group called the Crown Keepers

even when the two joined the current group, the Crown Keepers continued on in EXU: Kymal

this group covered the second half of the episode - including a different DM since Matt plays one of the characters

Understandably, some people were surprised and felt a little whiplashed since they were expecting the group to be dealing with the grief of losing a friend, but some have been a little more unkind about it

In my opinion it was framed perfectly, one character sending a message to another in that group before the halfway point, transitioning over now to what they've been up to in this worldwide doomsday clock level event

also the DM for it is on tumblr and liked the post I made so that was unexpectedly cool and I reacted totally humble and not at all weird ^^;

but yeah, no ship comfort (yet, hopefully), Ashton mentioned figuring out 'who they want to be' after a rest which has got people talking and keeps us on edge. I want to believe they'll push forward to try and make sure their friend's death was not in vain, they still have shown growth from the shard incident since they've not lashed out at anybody and have been very honest but valid about what they said, but you can't predict much on this show so there's always room for doubt

plus Imogen's cultist mother needed to be told what for, but she's still sipping the kool aid it seems. Don't trust her enough to turn on everyone, just to keep her daughter from harm

In spite of being okay with the switch I kinda wanted more really; Imogen, Laudna and Orym carry much of the 'I'm sad so let me express that I'm sad' stuff in the story anyway, what about Ashton, Fearne and Chetney? Ashton lost their best friend and wasn't even conscious to see it, Fearne was conscious but couldn't stop him, Chetney died and the person who brought him back then died, how are they affected? It's nothing against the former three but I like all the characters so I want to see all the characters y'know?

Candela next week too, expected it to come last week but it seems I was one off XD but that does mean the fandom will have to stew on all the stuff that happened

but that started my morning. The rest of the day was quite monotonous

the 3-days-a-week project is getting a bit nervy, lots of strings to check and it turns out we have little time to do it, last day on the 30th

there is a planned meeting with the client that apparently I'm not privy to but maybe we can get an extension out of that, because although it's plausible to check within the time it's tight and not likely if more bugs keep showing up

I also had a strange mixup with leads and IT over admin permissions

I was told to request an admin account since all seniors were getting them, with evidence that it had been discussed, when I did IT tells me only leads are allowed admin accounts o_O

so I ask one of the higher up leads who were confirmed to have approved it, but they then dispute with IT, so I don't know how that resolves

but time did hit goddamn slow in that second half

at 2pm I could've swore 15 minutes lasted an hour

the work was not done when I got home either, since I had to walk and feed the dogs what with mum and Ronnie gone till Saturday afternoon

once we covered that they were fine, but I was knackered

One Piece chapter came out right around the end of work, so I couldn't finish my review of it until I got home, it was a good chapter though - setting up things looking dire but I feel like a clutch action is coming

I didn't have any shows to watch so I binged Fallout

had very little context on the franchise, knew about vaults and the pip-boy and the mascot but that was mostly it, given that Nick Valentine isn't in it, got to ep 3 before I called it a night

finished it on Saturday, without franchise context it was decent, good twist at the end but still a fair amount of questions left unanswered

Saturday was another busy day for me anyway

washing clothes - took forever, barely any wind

buying food supplies

walking and feeding the dogs as they went off chasing rabbits and disappearing into the unknown for 10 minutes while I panicked that they weren't coming back when I shouted for them...

Bellsprout Community Day, double set, got 6 in total, transferred 3 to Scarlet but the others are still on GO because the transporter needs more juice

save them for trades and such

mum and Ronnie returned sooner than I expected, but Ronnie was quickly packing for an Antiques Fair the next day, explaining why mum was adamant of me and her going out for lunch on Sunday

my team won as well, good to be back to winning ways but it's still out of our hands right now, winning is the only thing we can do to stay in it

Pokémon episode annoyed me actually

I felt that Sango didn't add to anything in the plot, she was only put there to give Liko a non-battle win which was kinda stacked in her favour anyway, since she had baking lessons from Murdock and Sango doesn't know how to bake

I approved of Liko losing to Katy too, because she was very easily outplayed by tactics, I just don't like that she still passed the test, it follows the Liko Always Wins principle - she lost and yet she still won?

What's the point of the three being pitted against gym leaders that they are designed to tactically struggle against if they don't overcome it? Like you put Iono's electricity against Dot's Quaxly or Brassius' Sudowoodo against Roy's Fuecoco but say they can pass even if they lose? Doesn't sit right with me honestly  when Ash gained his badges without beating Brock, Misty and Erika it was because he had them to rights anyway but his compassion caused him to abandon or dismiss the battle in favour of honour or safety, he only really lucked out with Sabrina and that's only because his initial plan of using Haunter kept being thwarted by Haunter running away

so yeah that bothered me

after completing Fallout I went to bed, didn't sleep too much though

both mornings I was awake at 7:30 :/

today was my grandma's birthday on my dad's side, so sent her a text

One Piece episode was good, very animated

then went out with mum, little cafe meal

I managed to avoid most of her segues into annoying conversation topics

surprised though to hear that she might not retire next year though, she wants to play it by ear

we talked about how things were when we were at school, especially primary school when self-consciousness didn't really exist until your final year, and then in secondary school when everything sucks if you're not in a kliq or a team of popular people

harsh but as I pointed out, not entirely unlike adult work life; the people you know and people you're friends with can aid in success as much or even more than actual work ethic...

other stuff was the usual, what you'd do if you won the lottery, what kind of house would you want to live in, that kinda stuff, dreams as well - not aspirations like dreams we've had, mum dreams in memories, Ronnie apparently dreams fighting, strange how we're different isn't it?

the one that stumped me however was my mother asking if I was depressed

it stumped me more because I'm not sure I gave the most honest of answers

you can't really tell your mother you're emotionally muted a lot of the time, it's not as though I'm sad or I want to hurt myself, but that's as much of what I told her rather than the full extent

maybe it's tiredness, or monotony, or ennui, or maybe it even is depression but honestly the idea of having to see a therapist or take something to deal with that would just make me feel worse, because all it does is cause more people in my family distress, more eggshells to walk on. It's not as though I pretend to be happy though; I laugh when things are funny, I smile at things I like, there are things that still make me warm and excited, it's just that a lot of the time it's fleeting idk maybe it's the same for everyone but I wouldn't want her to worry

after that today went fairly steadily

have gotten a little hungry after that lunch but it is a bit too late now

back to business tomorrow

mum's birthday tomorrow too so out for another meal after work

got her present and card at my bedside to bring down in the morning too, my brother and his girlfriend are gonna come down too for the meal

my brother's birthday is next on the agenda, plus my grandad's 80th the day after

gotta gauge them for gifts next

but first we'll go to bed

How was your Days?

I don't get many FCV's or Llamas but I appreciate them nonetheless

Funfact: Weekend Treble

1 - The bearcat is a unique creature

also known as the Binturong (which sounds like Batarang gone wrong) they are a vulnerable species right now

active day and night, they use their tails to communicate

they also smell like popcorn, at least the ones kept as pets or in captivity within Asia

2 - The Methuselah tree is the oldest living tree in the world

thus the biblical name since Methuselah in Judaism lived to 969 years

the tree however laughs at biblical Methuselah

it's over 4000 years old, 4855 to be exact

living in the White Mountains in Eastern California, the exact location of the Bristlecone is kept secret - because humans are dicks

beating that however is the Methuselah star, which is believed to have lived 12-13.7 billion years

3 - The Disney Movie Up had the beautiful visual of a house being lifted by balloons to a faraway island

which scientifically is pretty unlikely

for comparison, a litre of helium can only lift 1.11 grams

a 70kg human would require 70k litres, which is about 10,000 normal balloons

and that's only to lift them a little, it's not including the fact that time and air pressure will dissipate the helium

plus a fully furnished house with 2 humans, a dog and an exotic bird would weight a lot, lot, LOT more

And that's a Fact!

Hope you all had Great Days

Defuse the Bomb

5 min read

Everyone loves that don't they?

as you can tell it was yet another stressful endeavor today

I slept a little bit better, but I was watching AEW clips so I was still awake rather early

a thick sheet of air still makes my bike rides rough, or maybe it's just fatigue

but the weather held off its rain until after work was finished at the least

but yeah, work was a chore

to start, distro had someone call in sick, so I had to help with that

lots of rushing and scrambling around so people can get their devices

by the time I had returned I had a wave of people asking me for access codes

also, I was told that the lead would be ill, and I had to take helm for a bit...until they showed up after I had everything set

and just when I was getting adjusted, another power cut :dummy:

that was the tip of the iceberg too

what would look on the surface as simple regression and text checks for a half day ended up a full day of hovering over testers

'defuse the bomb' I have been calling it, because I am literally having to cut testers off before they make a change or inconsistency which will blow up in our face

plus it's stressful and on a time limit

so many bombs to defuse guys, you always get these types of people; the ones who don't read the guides, the ones who look at a completely different string, the ones who see you say 'change this string' not do it and when confronted go 'oh I thought you just meant in general'

our most stressful one was the 'let me concentrate' Russian tester, who required 2.5 hours of so-called concentration before making a single change

and then stayed half an hour later than she should to only half finish the final task

most of which she did incorrectly anyway

no One Piece again, guess it's Fridays on the regular now

Dungeon Meshi was alright, the groups have all met up

not sure I like this dude, not Shuro the other one - man's literally frothing to see Laios' downfall

Shuro isn't great, kinda irrational right now, could be the lack of sleep though

I suspected Falin would be the chicken legs in the ED though, feel like there might end up being a confrontation

so yeah, another difficult day in a difficult week

anxiety still high for Critical Role too

we've had some tidbits about last episode, seems like the battle was closer than anticipated

Otohan was only on under 40 HP, had Matt not gotten so many crits the Hells probably would've survived it all

still the stats showed that she had a monster amount of DPS, power expected of a Lv20 Fighter but with the HP pool of a Dragon Turtle, plus 4 attacks not including Action Surge

still focus comes to this episode

I can't even say I hope it'll be a Good Day, it's an episode of grief and loss so it's gonna be mirthful either way

my main hope though is that comfort wins over angst; the grief is acknowledged but also tempered and regardless of whether the group seek to revive or let their companion stay dead that they strive to stick together and make sure the sacrifice wasn't in vain, let their hopes for the group live on through them

and ofc, for ship reasons I want Fearne and Ashton to comfort each other; a hug, some gentle words, basically stuff not out to hurt me maliciously ^^;

also maybe them getting off the moon, they need to drop off the scientist and maybe get the intel they need in exchange from the rebels and Liliana but otherwise it would be high time to leave, I doubt Ludinus is just gonna be chill about his No. 2 being dead (though I advocate the Hells wailing on her corpse so there's nothing left except valuable loot they can use)

so yeah, end the week on a hopeful note please?

mum and Ronnie are off tomorrow to her birthday trip till Saturday so it's just me and the dogs till then, enough time to wrap her gift at least, wash my clothes, get some supplies

oh and Bellsprout Community Day on Pokémon GO

One Piece chapter I'm expecting to come back with a bang given the 3 week break

don't think I have anything to watch now though, or the memory's fogging up again

this week has really been rough with the multi-project days, bad weather, poor sleep, deflating undercutting of my hard work et al so it's entirely possible, this month has been a rollercoaster due to my fandoms also sending me in a spin too, not just CR but X-Men, One Piece, Star Wars, Invincible and my football team (we lost yesterday, sadness again)

for now I will sleep, or try to, and hope the week turns around

How was your Days?

I don't get many FCV's or Llamas but I appreciate them nonetheless

Funfact: Belgian Waffles are a savory delight that can do little wrong

and unlike most facts this one did in fact originate in Belgium

showcased in 1958 in Brussels' Food Expo, the waffles introduced a deeper, thinner and crispier version than regular waffles

it gained its popularity in 1962 when Walter Cleyman introduced them in the Seattle Century 21 Expo, and took off in the 1964 New York World's Fair

However, Cleyman wasn't the creator of the recipe

That honor goes to Maurice Vermersch, who was simplifying the Brussels waffle recipe

originally they were called Bel-Gem Waffles, but since the Americans were having a hard time pronouncing it they shifted to just Belgian Waffles, selling them for a dollar each with strawberries and cream

though I prefer nutella

And that's a Fact!

Hope you all had Great Days

And so I shall bid you all

Well I was dreading the day for a reason

but in honesty it could've been much worse

not to say it was good because it wasn't, but the horrors were more imaginable than anticipated XD

Another rough sleep, once again I was awake past midnight and sleeping off and on

no weird dreams this time though

I was pretty swift on my morning routine, but it just meant more time to lie down like a burrito fully dressed in my bed ^^;

work was a little windy, not as thick as before, but the wear and tear has compiled over time

but yeah, work

3 projects we started with

but after an hour it dropped to two

turns out the clients on this new project only want us working 3 days a week, so we weren't booked for today

still had 2 projects to deal with though, both doing regression and with testers not so experienced in the project

which meant a lot of course correcting

by halfway we had whittled it down to just the 1 project

but then it had grinded to just before a halt, slow and painstaking

in the end getting both ends of the spectrum, where time moved slowly on both

also I choked on my food so I had a sore and clogged throat for much of the second half of the day

I left work dreading the sight of very dark clouds on the horizon

unfortunately I did get hit with some of the rain but not a lot

dinner for one as well, Ronnie had the oven going but only for himself

PC froze again, literally on the first thing I clicked, concerning to say the least

I gave it a proper restart after I force restarted it, but I may have to crack it open again to see if it needs anything on the inside

Bad Batch was alright, still seems like setup

it was X-Men 97 as well today, I kept thinking that was on Thursday but no Dungeon Meshi is Thursdays

it was fine, second part of the Storm stuff, which was good, the other stuff though not so much

it wasn't bad, just by comparison of last episode it wasn't as great

No One Piece chapter, but that was wishful thinking

just kinda stewing while my team is on another big football game, they're all must wins ofc but given how we haven't won our last two there is cause for worry

I'm still worried about the angst of the critical role episode coming up too

hoping of course for comfort, and comfort between the people I ship rather than the ones I don't (no offence to those who do but, you know, I'm gonna want my ship to thrive foremost), but it is one of those things where you know the tone is gonna be somber either way

I still would prefer the PC to revive or reincarnate, but I have at least accepted that if it doesn't it doesn't, some people however have not and are getting rather parasocial about it which is annoying, people gotta remind themselves that we're watching people play and decide the choices of their own characters, which they made without them in mind, same with haters of characters already criticizing the way they're grieving before the episode is even out :stare: tf is up with those people?

alas, tomorrow is Thursday, even though this week has been taking forever

anxiety will continue to creep as it'll be the streaming day

Maybe One Piece tomorrow

AEW and Dungeon Meshi for sure though

I have to wait out another half hour or so for the football, but then after that it's bed

How was your Days?

I don't get many FCV's or Llamas but I appreciate them nonetheless

Funfact: Penguins like most avians are capable of swallowing and regurgitating their food

but their tongues are actually fairly unique

since they have no teeth, their tongue is instead layered with keratinized bristles

the bristles keep food in their mouth since it's gonna try and wriggle out

these bristles are also on the roof of the mouth for additional latching, so the inside of a penguin's mouth looks rather horrific

as for the taste buds, birds in general don't have the gene receptors for sweetness, but penguins also can't taste bitterness, they only have receptors for salty and sour

And that's a Fact!

Hope you all had Great Days

And so I shall bid you all
